Low cost of materials and huge consumer interest in these products make this product ideal for business. You can count on fast self-sufficiency and stable profitability. What is attractive and how profitable is the business idea of making glowing stones? We'll figure out.

What are glow stones? Main characteristics of the product

Luminous stones differ little from natural ones in shape, and their weight is almost 10 times less than that of ordinary stones. It is these advantages that explain the incredible popularity of these products. The stones glow in the dark, and without batteries or bulbs. The principle is similar to phosphorus, but there is no phosphorus in the composition. The luminescent coating is charged with light from any source, and gives it back after dark. The glow effect can last for several years.

This is absolutely safe and harmless material. Luminous stones can withstand severe mechanical stress. They are not afraid of cold and heat, do not break or deteriorate, have an unlimited service life, and are easy to transport.

As you can see, there are many advantages. Each of them reduces risks and gives guarantees for the successful implementation of a business project. And if you take into account that the use of glowing stones in Russia began not so long ago, you can safely add one more advantage - any innovation is in demand. It is possible to surprise the modern consumer, spoiled by the oversaturated market of goods, with beautiful luminescent stones.

Liquid stone cladding as a business idea with minimal investment

If you are interested in entering a small business without serious funding at the start, then facing with liquid stone is one of the best options. The technology of work is simple, it is mainly required to be careful.

A lot is faced with liquid stone: plumbing fixtures, furniture, interior elements, etc.

Starting a Business

The first thing to start with is to find the appropriate room. Organized production requires 50 sq. m.

The technology used assumes the presence of 2 functional zones, depending on the type of work:

  • Production of facing material, coating products with liquid stone.
  • Grinding.

It will take a minimum of time to master the corresponding technology. Usually such training does not take more than 2 days.

The process of manufacturing the material for facing itself is mixing a transparent gelcoat with granules. The resulting mixture will be ready for application only after adding the hardener.

To purchase the necessary equipment, an amount of 50 thousand rubles will be required, which is approximately. This money will make it possible to purchase the required minimum:

  • mixer in the form of a special drill;
  • sprayer;
  • circular saw;
  • jigsaw;
  • grinder;
  • screwdriver.

The production of decorative stone is a type of business that, if properly organized, quickly pays off and brings a stable income to an entrepreneur. This is due to the popularity of building materials, which are used in the creation of landscape design and interior decoration.

Relevance of the idea

The business prospects for the production of decorative stone are due to the special characteristics of the material. It has high fire resistance, sound and heat insulating properties, as well as environmental friendliness, which opens up wide opportunities for its use in various fields of construction and the implementation of design ideas.

The advantages of decorative stone include:

  • Large selection of shades, which simplifies the search for building materials for a specific interior style.
  • Maintains color even after prolonged exposure to sunlight.
  • Resistance to temperature extremes.
  • Lightweight and hygienic.
  • Durability and health safety.

The production of decorative stone also has advantages:

  • Minimum costs for the purchase of raw materials.
  • Great performance.
  • Ease of organization of the technological process.
  • Fast payback.
  • No problems with the sale of the finished product, which is due to the wide demand for artificial stone.

Before starting a project, it is important to decide on the type of artificial stone that will be preferred in production. There are two types of products - for interior and exterior use. The scope of application depends on the material used in the manufacturing process. Today the following types of decorative stone stand out:

  • Ceramic. For production, it is necessary to attract qualified personnel and arrange large areas. The manufacturing principle is based on firing the finished product at a certain temperature.
  • Plaster. The production of decorative stone from plaster is considered the best option that can be implemented at home. The disadvantage of the material is its limited use. It is allowed to be used only inside heated rooms, where the temperature does not drop below 18 degrees Celsius.
  • Concrete. Two subspecies of decorative stone stand out here - cement-sand and monumental (reinforced). The first type of product is characterized by frost resistance and the possibility of using it in the construction of a house, and the second - by the availability of piece production directly at the construction site of the facility.
  • Acrylic (cast) is a decorative stone that can be made at home using the same technology as gypsum products. The required hardness is achieved using a special machine - vibropress. Features include thermoplasticity, high quality and ease of technology development.
  • Polyester stone with mineral filler. Unlike natural counterparts, the finished building material has the best mechanical and decorative qualities. The main difficulty is the need to use expensive equipment, because production is carried out in a vacuum and at high temperatures. For a home business, this will not work.
  • Liquid - a type of artificial stone that is made using a gel coating. In terms of mechanical characteristics, the finished product is inferior to the cast version, but it is possible to create designs of various shapes.

Where is the building material used?

As noted, one of the main advantages of the production of decorative stone is the ease of selling the finished product, which is explained by the great demand for building material. Scope of application:

Stone has been used in interior decoration since time immemorial. In addition, earlier it was used as the main building material, and only then it was replaced by various mixtures (brick, concrete, etc.). However, the relevance of stone decoration remained.

Now there are 2 main types of stone used for any work: natural and decorative. Despite the many advantages of natural material, the variety of textures and colors is severely limited. In turn, the decorative stone allows you to choose colors, patterns, and also implement all design ideas. In addition, such a material, with high-quality manufacturing, is resistant to the effects of sunlight and household chemicals, weighs much less (5 times lighter than natural, which reduces the cost of additional reinforcement and surface preparation), is easy to fit and has a long service life.

Features of business organization

The production of decorative stones is undoubtedly primarily a small business. Of course, nothing prevents an entrepreneur from opening a large plant from scratch, but organizing supplies, the work of all personnel, sales, etc. extremely difficult, especially in such a specific case. Therefore, it is recommended to start this business with a small workshop, which significantly reduces both start-up costs and simplifies the very organization of all processes.

Decorative stones can be used for surface cladding, interior decoration, paving paths and even as furniture. Depending on the purpose, not only the composition of the mixture from which the stones are made, but even the manufacturing technology itself, can change. It is worth focusing primarily on the local market. The stones themselves can be made according to individual orders, or they can be produced in batches that have universal application.

Materials and manufacturing technology

The decorative stone is based on:

  • binder (gray or white cement or gypsum - depending on the type of finish (external / internal));
  • filler (sand, gypsum, expanded clay, etc.) etc.);
  • mineral pigments of different colors;
  • plasticizer;
  • hardening accelerator.

The decorative stone is produced by the method of conventional casting or vibratory casting. The 1st method is used, as a rule, when working with plaster. In this case, polyurethane or silicone molds are required, which must first be lubricated with a special compound to facilitate the removal of the resulting products. After that, the inner surface of the mold is coated with paint of the required color. Next, the mixture itself is prepared: gypsum (alabaster), water, sand, plasticizers are mixed in the right proportions. You can also add a dye to the mixture to add color to the entire stone. At this stage, it is extremely important to accurately calculate the volume of the finished mixture so that it fits completely in the molds. The surplus cannot be used in the future. After the mixture is ready, it is poured into molds. All molds must be shaken and sieved to ensure uniform distribution over the mold and to remove air bubbles. Next, the workpiece must be left for 30-40 minutes until the solution has completely set. Also at this time, a number of horizontal or vertical stripes can be applied on the back of the stone - in the future, they will facilitate the installation of the material on the surface. After the solution has set, the stone can be removed from the mold and sent to drying, which lasts about 1.5 days. For this, a special cabinet with ventilation holes on top and a heater on the bottom is used.

The optimum temperature is 30-50 ° C. If heated more, the product will crack. Also, in such a cabinet, stones should be kept from 2 to 8 hours (depending on their thickness and volume), the remaining time - in the air. After that, practically finished products are primed and, if necessary, painted. This method involves the manufacture of stones from plaster or alabaster, which can be used mainly for interior decoration. Much stronger and more durable decorative stones are made using a different technology - vibration casting.

Before starting work

Before starting a business, you need to take a few primary and extremely important steps. First of all, find out how much the decorative stone is in demand in your sales region. To do this, you need to find out the following nuances:

  • Who is ready to buy a stone, what type, colors, textures.
  • What is your target audience.
  • Who are your competitors, what they produce, how they sell.

Only by comparing the information received can you determine whether it makes sense to draw up a further business plan.

If you nevertheless decide to open a business for the production of decorative stone, it is worth registering as an individual entrepreneur or legal entity by choosing a simplified taxation system.

Looking for a room

The premises of the company for the production of decorative stone must cover at least 500 sq. m. Most of it will be occupied by a warehouse, and about 100 sq. m. m. can be allocated for a workshop. In this case, the warehouse does not need to be heated. The production of decorative stone is carried out with the participation of water, and it should not freeze.

However, approximately 50 sq. m premises must be heated well - at about 30 o C. Here the stone must be dried. Another room with a temperature of at least 18 ° C should be allocated for staff. All premises must comply with fire safety standards and SES.

Please note that the room must have water supply and sewerage, as well as a good exhaust.

For the operation of the enterprise, the business plan must provide for the hiring of appropriate personnel. First of all, you need to hire a technologist who will develop or provide his own recipe for creating a decorative stone, will select its texture and color. It also depends on the exact observance of the technology for the production of artificial stone.

In addition to the technologist, the staff should have two teams of workers, 4 people each, as well as a packer of finished products. You will also need two managers who will deal with orders, and a production manager, whose responsibilities will include purchasing raw materials and controlling production.
