Business ideas from scratch
Administrator "over a year ago
So, to begin with, this idea occurred to me quite by accident. Sitting in one of our city cafes, where they cooked completely tasteless food. After all, since we have a very small town, there is not a single establishment here, apart from an expensive restaurant where delicious homemade food would be prepared, like the one we eat at home. It was then that I got the idea to open something like that.
At home, after discussing this with our brother, we decided it was worth a try. And it began.
Premises, equipment and initial investments
To begin with, in February of this 2021, we rented an ordinary residential building almost in the center of the city. The rental price of which was 1000 rubles per month. This is already taking into account all utilities. The house had a gas stove, 2 refrigerators, a large spacious kitchen and tables. We already had dishes and other kitchen utensils.
The initial capital, as I wrote earlier, does not require large investments. I believe that 8,000 rubles - and this is exactly how much it takes to get started - is not such an astronomical amount, and it is quite possible to find it. What my brother and I did, investing 4,000 rubles in this business.
And now I would like to say why exactly so much money is required for this.
So, if we go back to the above, 1000 rubles is renting a house. Now let's move on to the products.
Start Menu and Food Costs
To begin with, we have compiled the simplest usual menu, which over time, of course, improved and even raised prices.
At the beginning it looked like this: Potatoes (mashed potatoes) - 40 rubles per serving. alat (cabbage, green cucumber) - 50 rubles. departure - 60 rubles. pudding with meat - 80 rubles. arezka (tomatoes, cucumbers) - 50 rubles. uterbrod with sausage - 20 rubles. osiska - 25 rubles. ashi: rice - 40 rubles; buckwheat - 50 rubles.
Then, in order not to risk and not be a loser (let's say, if nothing came of it), we first bought products for a month. I am writing the amounts that we actually spent during the purchase. The cost of food, of course, is different in different cities. artoshka, 20 kg. - 360 rubles. apusta, 5 kg. - 200 rubles. vezhie cucumbers, 3 kg. - 200 rubles. ayonnaise, 3.5 kg. - 200 rubles. arsh, 4 kg. - 400 rubles. eggs, 50 pcs. - 200 rubles. clear drumsticks (pork), 6 kg - 540 rubles. leb, 21 pcs. - 150 rubles. argarine, 2 kg. - 200 rubles. uk, 10 kg. - 150 rubles. orc, 3 kg. - 120 rubles. sunflower aslo, 6 l. - 500 rubles. omidoros, 3 kg. - 200 rubles. ground heretz - 50 rubles. spices - 200 rubles. ol - 150 rubles. albas, 4.5 kg. - 270 rubles. osiski, 3 kg. - 240 rubles. IS, 2 p. - 60 rubles. river, 2 p. - 140 rubles.
Homemade food is ideal for those who have problems with the stomach, digestive organs in general, are overweight or have a chronic dislike of food from restaurants and fast foods.
If you cook deliciously (or don't cook, but just a good administrator), you can try to build a business selling homemade food. How do you do this? In principle, everything is easy enough. You just need to have ideas.
Safety first
The first and perhaps most important thing to remember is that the food must be of high quality! Wherever you sell it, it was made from expensive or cheap products, but the food must be safe.
Today, just an unrealistic number of housewives are preparing pies, rolls, cakes, semi-finished products, selling them without proper documents. This is in principle possible if you feed your friends or, say, your products are sold once or twice a month, if you are trying to make some money by making someone you know a cake for their birthday. But if you decide to really and constantly make money on this, remember: all documents for products, both ready-made and the one with which you are cooking, must be.
Otherwise, it is fraught with fines, problems with the relevant authorities, tax authorities and even the police. And, of course, your conscience can suffer greatly in this case. After all, it is difficult to sleep well at night, knowing that today you fed 20 people with low-quality food or slightly sour borscht. Isn't that so?
Specialization and Creative
You need to know exactly what you will be doing. Do not try to bake rolls and canning tomatoes at the same time. Choose one thing to start with and start doing it. If you successfully learn how to make dumplings, for example, then in the future customers will order them often, while asking for dumplings and, for example, pasties.
Food delivery to offices
Here you can:
- Choose one office and cook and deliver food there if you work independently;
- have several offices to serve if you have already formed your team of several chefs , food carriers and even waiters.
It all depends on the size of the business and the quality of the food.
One of the business options for those who love and know how to cook. Depending on the scale, it can be a home mini-business or a large independent production with separate workshops for preparing hot and cold dishes, its own bakery and delivery service.
Let's start from zero, go through all aspects and consider several options for the development of this type of activity.
Who will you feed?
Without special investments, a business at dinners can be started in any locality, taking into account its specifics and occupation of the population. Who needs ready-made meals? Employees working at some distance from home, who do not have enough time to get to their own kitchen during lunchtime, as well as personnel of those enterprises that do not have a corporate cafeteria.
Potential customers may include employees of a shopping center, a wholesale warehouse on the outskirts, builders of a new microdistrict, employees of a beauty salon or office plankton. You should not rely on income from teachers, doctors or the military, not at all because they are considered low-paid workers, but because they may prefer more affordable food from the cafeterias serving these institutions.
It is also necessary to take into account the fact that all your customers should have conditions for eating right in the workplace. You should clarify the equipment of the staff rooms with such household electrical appliances as a microwave oven, kettle, refrigerator and select a method of packaging and storage of ready-made food, taking into account their presence or absence.
Make a preliminary list of nearby businesses and office buildings, or talk to someone you know about catering conditions at their workplace. Walk around these companies ahead of your lunch break and see if your help in delivering ready-made meals will be needed. Invite everyone to use your services and leave your business card.
Do not forget to weigh your own strengths and assess the possibilities. It is worth starting with 10-20 full meals, gradually gaining momentum and choosing the optimal number of complexes and the number of clients.
What can you treat the people to?
At the same preliminary stage, it is necessary to create a menu and plan a layout. The standard complex includes:
Before maternity leave, many women led a fairly active business life: they worked or were in business. But after the birth of the child, they devoted all their time to the baby. But now the time has passed when the young mother got stronger after giving birth, learned to manage her time, and the baby grew up. And many active women are beginning to look for opportunities that would allow them to realize themselves, take a little break from their daily duties and earn money. Indeed, with the growth of the baby, the needs also grow, and, accordingly, the money requests.
I propose for consideration the idea of a business that will suit absolutely all young mothers. But on one condition - you need to be able to cook deliciously. This does not require any special education or a diploma in culinary courses. You need to be able to cook simple meals that are prepared daily and for the holidays.
Benefits of the business of preparing and delivering hot meals to offices
The idea of the business of preparing and delivering hot meals to offices is to prepare delicious meals at home and deliver them directly to the client's workplace.
Why this business is the most profitable and convenient:
- No special knowledge or special skills are required for its success. It is enough to be able to cook deliciously and be neat.
- No huge investment required. As a rule, for the first order, you need to invest in the purchase of groceries, disposable tableware and packaging cling film.
- Your products will always be in demand. As a rule, many workers try to have a snack during lunch and take food from home with them. But sooner or later it gets boring and at the sight of an appetizing, hot, aromatic, freshly prepared dinner, they will not be able to refuse it. And if you offer an interesting price for your products, and even its quality will be such that customers will lick their fingers for a long time - the number of grateful customers you will have will grow every day. And accordingly, your profit.
- If suddenly, for some reason, homemade meals were not sold, your family and friends will be happy to help you eat everything. They will be grateful to you!
- And hence the conclusion - it is impossible to burn out in this business!
Organizing your own culinary business
In order for the business of preparing and delivering hot meals to offices to be successful, it is necessary to prepare for it, like for any other.
Step 1. It is necessary to think over the list of dishes that can be offered to potential customers. Such dishes can be: various cereals, potato side dishes, meat and fish dishes, pilaf, salads and pickles. And if baking is a common thing for you, then the list can include pies, cakes, pastries.
Step 2. Draw up a detailed recipe for each dish, and calculate its cost. It is very important to take into account the yield of the finished dish from the raw product and the time it takes to prepare one or another dish. This point must be taken into account so that the finished product reaches customers while still hot.
Step 3. Study the offers of competitors. Start with nearby cafes. What do they offer at lunchtime: business lunches or hot meals? Find out what is on offer, and most importantly, how much it costs. In addition, study the offers of competitors for ads that can be seen in newspapers and on message boards on the Internet. The more information you can gather, the better offer you will make to potential customers. Remember: he who owns the information owns the world! Collect as much information as possible - what dishes are offered, how much the order costs, what is included in it.
Step 4. Now that you know your competitors' offers and prices, it's time to think about prices for your own products. Do not immediately chase super-profits, but you should not dump low prices either. According to the laws of a young business, your prices should be slightly lower than those of your competitors. Well, if you have no competitors - install any!
Business dining at home can be considered profitable in a city with more than 200 thousand people. Such lunches will mainly be ordered by office workers, it is to them that this activity will be directed.
Launching a lunch-making business
Starting capital: 40 - 120 thousand rubles;
Monthly profit: 10 - 40 thousand rubles;
The first step, like in any other business, is to evaluate the idea. In a home dining business, you need to make a list of potential customers and a list of competitors.
The list of clients looks like this: your clients are mostly office workers who are overwhelmed with work and do not have the opportunity to get home to dinner or just leave their office when it is possible to order lunch directly to the workplace. There may be branches of various organizations, large stores with a large number of sellers, jobs with manual labor without canteens and other food outlets, etc.
The list of competitors is not only in organizations similar to yours, but also in canteens, inexpensive cafes and other places of food. And in order to compete against the competition, you have to be better on all counts.
Competitive Advantages
Here are several options for the advantages that you can give over your competitors:
1. Delicious dinners. The simplest thing is the most direct responsibility - you have to cook very tasty. Having ordered your lunch once, the client will not only start using your services all the time, but will also tell his colleagues about you, and this is the launch of word of mouth at the expense of taste. Keep in mind that meals should be served to customers at the temperature that is best served at lunchtime.
