What is the company's strategy?

The definition from the ISO standard - (quality management system) - most closely defines the essence of the concept:

"Strategy is a planned activity to achieve a goal."

You can find many other phrases on the Internet, but the meaning is very simple to define. These are scheduled events for a specific period. Usually from 3 years to 10. A year is not entirely ambitious, it is applicable only for a narrow focus, for example, to reduce costs, or liquidate an enterprise. Planning for a long time, in the context of high-speed changes in the economy, will be impracticable.

My personal opinion is that small business would also have a development strategy. Let it be not a fundamental multivolume, but a short description of the path to the result.

Having a plan on paper, after all, if you completely simplify, then a strategy is a plan for implementing changes that will lead to the desired result. Today in Russia only 20% of all entrepreneurs have stepped over the threshold of one year of existence.

Of course, I already hear that the economic situation is not stable and there are many other factors. However, the presence of a development strategy on paper allows you to go step by step, as if up the steps. At least monitor every milestone. Respond promptly to changes. If, suppose, they planned to develop and promote one product, and after 2 years the market is oversaturated. Then you need to quickly roll up, change tactics, possibly modify the product. Or, generally curtail this production, and increase others.

The strategy allows not only the owners, but also the employees to understand where they are going, what they have achieved and what is left.

Many practical techniques are used to develop such a globally document.
