Difficult, but possible
There is no official statistics on the number of businesses registered by minors, they say at the Center for Youth Initiatives. Due to the difficulties in registration, young entrepreneurs remain in the shadows: but, according to various expert estimates, their number can start from 200 thousand and exceed a million.
At the same time, the ASI notes, the overwhelming majority of young entrepreneurs do not register their business - official statistics are vanishingly small. At the beginning of 2021, 387 underage individual entrepreneurs were registered, 145 of them were under 17 years old. But the FTS does not keep official and accessible statistics on the number of underage entrepreneurs.
Here are some stories of female entrepreneurs who started businesses before they come of age and their parents.
Daria, design and modeling
When I was 15, I started designing in cad. At first it was purely a hobby. I drew details and elements, which I then printed on a 3D printer or turned on a CNC = machine in Uvantorium, and then assembled the models at a scale of 1:12. At some point, on a social network, I came across an offer of a part-time job from a small enterprise: it was required to transfer drawings from a paper version to an electronic one. Since this is a fairly simple job, they paid very little, 250 rubles per sheet, but I decided to try. Within two months, I redrawn diagrams of more than 100 different devices, and the management of the enterprise approached me with an offer to cooperate on a regular basis. It was complicated by the fact that I was 16, and their lawyers could not find a way to conclude a contract with me. Therefore, we continued to work through a freelance exchange, with which I received money for a QIWI wallet, while giving the platform a rather large commission.
Over time, I started to fulfill orders from other organizations. Most of them have already begun to deal with the development of design documentation for new products for mass production. There were even clients from the category of "crazy inventors" - those who just brought a drawing on a napkin and asked to urgently translate it into a formalized form, because tomorrow this invention will turn the world upside down.
At that time, in April 2021, my monthly income was about 50 thousand rubles, but at the insistence of my parents, I had to temporarily stop taking orders in connection with the preparation for the exam. Having passed the exams and submitted documents to the university, I got a lot of free time and happily continued to look for new interesting orders. Then for the first time I was approached with a proposal to create an information model of a product. It was required not only to create design documentation, but also to carry out software and mathematical modeling of the future product, including the assembly and operation process.
I spent more than a month on the first such project, but the customer was very pleased with the result and promised to recommend me to his partners. In October 2021, several small companies from the aerospace and engineering industries contacted me, which mainly work with Western customers. Since this was already a significant amount of work and rather large financial transactions, after consulting with my parents, I decided to register as a self-employed. This would allow organizations to enter into a simple contract with me, which would not be influenced in any way by the fact that I was not yet 18 years old.
At first there was a misunderstanding from the customers what kind of taxation it was and how to interact with me, but it turned out that everything is quite simple - both for them and for me. When I receive a payment, I generate a check online, and no additional operations are required.
I recommend all my peers to take a closer look at my hobby: most likely, it can also be transformed into a successful business. There is no need to be afraid of mistakes or difficulties, they are all solvable. The main thing is to find your niche correctly, determine effective communication channels with potential customers and start working. In the beginning, it is not even necessary to formally register your business in any way. In my opinion, only when it comes to reaching large customers or a large turnover, it is advisable to choose a suitable taxation system and formally register all this.
When you read texts about schoolchildren and students who have launched their own startup, it seems that there is a simple scheme - came up with an idea, created your own business, and then you just work hard. We, of course, agree with the latter. But there are also many pitfalls and nuances in business, and you cannot do without special knowledge, so it is better to start getting them as early as possible.
Rusbase Young tells why send a child to a business school, what they teach there, what are the pros and cons, where to go to study business in Russia and abroad, and how the educational process works there.
What is a business school for children
Karina Medvedeva, General Director of the KinderMBA Children's Business School
Entrepreneurial thinking is not an innate skill, it can be developed. And a business school is not only classes, but a whole infrastructure, including workshops and business tours in the company, trips abroad and vacation programs, expert consultations on project activities, and an alumni club.
Thanks to classes, the child's thinking changes, he acquires new skills - parents see a great value in this. This is a very good trend, and it's great that there are schools, so far only private ones, that integrate business programs into their educational process. Everyone understands: in order to be successful in the future, you need to develop today.

What is taught in business schools
Founder of CODDY School of Programming for Children

Oksana Selendeeva, founder of the international school of programming for children CODDY, asked entrepreneurs and top managers how communicating with children is good for business, and told why they turned out to be the best personal coaches and business consultants.
Don't give up
Alexey Korolyuk, CEO of hosting provider and domain registrar REG. U:
My daughter in second grade was given a container with a hawk moth cocoon as a project activity. The task is to grow a butterfly, take care of it, track how long it will live. The butterfly left the cocoon, and the question arose of what to feed it.
We made a sweet solution of water and honey, put the saucer in a container. While eating, the butterfly wet its wings and could not spread them. I mentally buried the hawk moth and began to explain to my daughter that the insect would not live.
But the daughter did not want to put up with it and offered to wet her wings to wash off the sweet water. Despite my comments about the pointlessness of this venture, we washed the wings and put the wet hawk moth back into the container. It was by nightfall, but the child did not give up. Together with their mother, they read on the Internet that it was necessary to plant a hawk moth on a branch. They found a suitable one in the yard, brought it home, planted an insect on it. By morning, the wings dried out, the hawk moth spread them and began to fly!
Conclusion: an adult with a lot of experience has already "buried" a butterfly twice, but a child does not care. Children are taught not to give up even when experience and common sense suggest that the situation is not worth dealing with. With such childish naive enthusiasm, you need to approach every startup, not be afraid of pivots and difficulties.
Don't forget about creativity
Eva Katz, co-founder of the advertising agency Digital Bands:
While at the planning meetings we were discussing how things are going with our client (real estate developer), daughter of a business partner Polina, listened to all the discussions. At the next planning meeting, where we wondered how to log into TikTok, the child took pity and wrote us instructions - hardcore, real, without water.
We have developed a strategy for selling real estate in this social network. The strategy is working, and we are preparing a case study of how we started selling apartments on TikTok.
Earning money for children is not only a great opportunity for a little person to earn their first money in life, but also a great chance to learn to value them, as well as the work of their own parents. That is why the editors of our site believe that if your child has shown a desire to earn money on his own, you should definitely express his own support in this.
Naturally, the types of earnings for children can be different, and not all children can realistically assess their opportunities and risks. It is for this reason that parents must take a mandatory part in the financial activities of the baby. At the same time, they should not overstep certain boundaries in order to make the baby feel that he earned the money himself and has the right to dispose of it on his own.
This article is aimed at both children and adults. It will allow the children to understand how they can earn their first pocket money. Adults will be given the opportunity to figure out how to help their child in such a difficult task as obtaining financial literacy.
Content of the article:
Parents, kids and money
Surely every normal parent dreams that his baby is happy and successful when he grows up. Moreover, most parents also dream that their child would be happy and successful already during his growing up. This explains even the banal fact that adults are constantly rejoicing at the success of their children in school, and are sad if there is no such success.
However, good grades in school do not always determine whether a child will be successful in the future or not. Adults, devoid of tyranny, are well aware of this fact. They realize that their son or daughter can go to school for three grades, but show talent in something else - in drawing, for example, or in the ability to make money in almost any business that he or she would not undertake. Therefore, if your baby is interested in any subject, including making money, we advise you to support his interest - perhaps the future Donald Trump or Bill Gates is growing in your house. The psychology of children's earnings
However, the interest of the guys regarding earnings may be different. Parents with good life experience understand that earnings differ. Theft or extortion is also a kind of way to get money. But doing them, the young man steps on a crooked road, which subsequently will not lead to anything good. If a parent notices such inclinations for his child, he must nip them in the bud. The best way to do this is to explain to the young man that the consequences of his actions could lead him to prison and leave him penniless in the future. And it is not necessary to do this at all, because there are a bunch of excellent options for alternative earnings that, without risk, will allow him to earn enough good money already in his youth.
The main thing is to convince the child that money does not appear out of thin air, but is the result of a certain labor: work performed or the production and / or sale of a certain resource.
How a child can earn their first money
Earnings for children can be of two types:
- performing a certain job for a pre-agreed financial reward
- producing and selling any product for set price
Business is traditionally considered the business of adults, even the elderly. Respectable businessmen, sitting on leather chairs and slowly deciding their affairs - that's what most come to mind when the word "business". However, entrepreneurship is an area that even teenagers can successfully pursue. At the same time, earning real money, which is quite enough for pocket money, and not only.
Many adults get tired after work, and it is much more pleasant for them to spend time in front of the TV or with their family than going to hum with their pet. On the contrary, children and adolescents have a lot of free time, a lot of energy, in the evenings they are full of strength. If they also love animals, then this business is especially for them.
Let's calculate the income. Average cost 300 rubles. in hour. If you walk one dog per hour every day, you get 9,000 rubles. per month. If two dogs, then 18,000 rubles. per month. Very good money even for adults. There are no costs in this type of business, only if you have to replace gnawed shoes or clothes.
If we consider dog walking as a business, then a teenager can take an order and give it to his younger brother or sister. RUB 150 The "organizer" takes 150 rubles for himself. gives it to the junior "employee". Then everyone gets 4500 rubles. per month. You can distribute the duties as follows: one worker walks around the apartments and asks if it is necessary to take the dog for a walk today, then he recruits the animals and distributes them to several workers who are already directly involved in the walk. To summarize, dog walking is a very interesting and profitable business for teenagers.
Anime paraphernalia business
Very often schoolchildren are fond of Japanese animation - anime. This is a whole industry with multimillion-dollar profits. If a teenager is well versed in this subject, is an otaku, then he can organize a small business selling paraphernalia, souvenirs and goods for the so-called cosplay. This business is for teenagers who themselves are very keen on cartoons with big eyes :)
The range is very diverse:
- Anime Figures
- Original Manga (comics) in Japanese
- Wigs and other cosplay clothing
- Cards and stickers
Let's try to calculate the income. These paraphernalia are bought on e-bay, sometimes on Amazon, they are cheap there. Average cost with delivery is about 100-200 rubles. There are no costs for renting a store and for a warehouse. In Russia, it is sold quite expensively, so there will be a "margin". The selling price is in the region of 300-550 rubles, schoolchildren are unlikely to buy more expensive. Income from the sale of one unit of goods is approximately 100-300 rubles. One student can buy one item per month. Suppose our salesperson is very sociable and has 10 anime friends. Income from 1000 to 3000 rubles. per month. Not too much. But this business for teenagers has its advantages. It will allow a young man or girl to better get acquainted with Japanese culture, perhaps even learn the language, and, moreover, always be in the center of the party.
Conducting master classes
Not so long ago, along with the development of interest in needlework, as well as in folk, ethnic culture, so-called master classes became popular. People gather in a cozy art cafe or a tea house, and the organizer begins to explain and show how to make soap or play an ethnic musical instrument like the jew's harp. It is quite possible to conduct master classes for a teenager, the main thing is that he is well versed in some business.
In what areas you can conduct master classes:
