Workshop for the production of paper

In the modern world, cardboard packaging products, gradually replacing universal polyethylene, are gaining more and more popularity and are becoming almost irreplaceable. This material is lightweight, high quality and inexpensive.

Cardboard is a hard sheet or sheet-like material with a thickness of 0.3 to 5 mm, produced from pulp. Simply put, it is a type of thick paper. There is no clear boundary between these two materials. The main difference between cardboard and paper is its thickness and weight per square meter.

Cardboard is used in many areas of the industry. Due to their versatility, these products are always in good demand, so the business associated with their production is doomed to success. It will not only be profitable, but also highly profitable.

Depending on the area of use, cardboard can be divided into:

  • Packaging - the leader in terms of production among all types of cardboard. It is a yellow-brown multilayer corrugated material. Due to its structure, the cardboard folds well and has the ability to cushion impact. The bottom layer is made from recycled paper or inexpensive wood material, the intermediate layer is made from the same raw material. The top layer is made of quality cellulose, which gives the material a smooth texture that is resistant to dust and moisture. Containers for any products are made from this material: boxes for household appliances, electronics, food products, furniture. Depending on the quantity, two, three, five, seven and eight-layer sheets are distinguished. The method of corrugating the inner layers is marked with the Latin letters A, B, C, E and F. Profiles E and F are used for the manufacture of specific packaging - micro-corrugated cardboard (its purpose is packaging of consumer goods).
  • Construction is an environmentally friendly, vapor-permeable material used for interior decoration. It is used as a substrate for floor coverings, used in the manufacture of drywall.
  • Electrical insulating - an available material with a special impregnation, which has electrical insulating properties. They are used as a heat-resistant insulating shell in the manufacture of transformers.
  • Printing - thin cardboard with a smooth surface for high quality printing, covered with a coated layer on top. Business cards, advertising brochures, postcards, folders are made from such material.
  • Food - coated, foil and laminated cardboard used for the manufacture of disposable tableware.

Raw materials base and production facility

The main raw materials used for the production of cardboard:

The purchase price for raw materials is approximately 5,000 to 6,000 rubles per ton. You can add waste paper of other brands, but its share in the total composition should not be more than 15%.

The addition of cellulose can significantly improve paperboard properties such as strength and color. The cost of cellulose ranges from 18 to 20 thousand rubles per ton.

The addition of rosin glue (4.5 kg per ton of waste paper), alumina (1.2: 1000) or starch (4: 1000), introduced as an addition to the main raw material base, will allow to improve the texture of the products.

Cardboard is a material whose durability was previously underestimated by designers and builders.

However, now it is actively used in the manufacture of various interior items, including furniture, so this business idea has the right to develop into a promising and profitable business.

Cardboard Furniture Business

The advantage of cardboard furniture production is low start-up costs.

Cardboard furniture is not much different from wooden counterparts, while its cost is several times lower.

Today, there are models of cardboard chairs on the market that can withstand a load of up to 120 kilograms.

The cost of such products is only a few hundred rubles, which makes them affordable for any person.

How much money is needed to start a cardboard furniture business

Everyone can master the manufacture of furniture from cardboard.

This does not require highly specialized knowledge and skills.

On the Internet, you can find many author blogs, where the technology for the production of such products is described in detail.

To open a mini-workshop for the production of cardboard furniture, start-up investments in the amount of 30 thousand rubles will be enough.

One of the most promising types of business is paper and cardboard recycling. In addition, due to the specifics of this production, an organized company will have a socially responsible status. After all, when buying cardboard and processing secondary raw materials, a huge forest area of the country is saved from cutting down. Paper recycling experts have found that municipal solid waste in residential areas is 22% by volume from waste paper. But waste in commercial sectors already contains up to 60% of waste paper.

Considering that 70% of the paper and cardboard produced by the industry consists of waste paper, one can thoroughly think about the benefits of recycling cardboard as a profitable business.

Good to know! In the manufacture of products from cardboard and paper around the world, 52% of the raw material is used for this production.

Let's try to figure out how to open such a production and what is its possible profit, what is the payback period.

Starting investments 26,000,000 rubles.

Market saturation - medium.

Difficulty starting a business - 7/10.

Features of the production facility

To choose a room for cardboard processing as a business, you need to take into account that its area should be considerable. According to the most conservative estimates, over 100 square meters will be required for the main production facility and approximately the same area for storing finished products and placing raw materials. In addition, you will have to take into account the area standards established for a fire hazardous production.

If the premises were not initially electrified, not equipped with sewerage and water supply, then additional costs for solving these issues will require at least 100,000 rubles. It is necessary to have an active ventilation device in the room and to have a ceiling height of at least 4 meters. When recycling cardboard waste, high humidity in the room is inevitable, therefore, the metal elements of the building structure must be made of corrosion-resistant materials. Humidity will also be high due to the fact that the processing technology will use hot steam up to 250 kilograms per hour.

Paper making is a promising business area in Russia. This is due to the growing demand for paper products. In addition, there are relatively few papermaking enterprises. Before starting your own production, it is necessary to assess the volume of investments, the availability of raw materials in a certain region, in general, draw up a clear business plan.

Humanity invented paper thousands of years ago, but the demand for this material, even with the advent of electronic media, is growing every year. Paper and cardboard continue to be widely used not only for conveying information (books, newspapers, etc.), but also as packaging material for food and non-food products. Moreover, it is used in the manufacture of towels, diapers, building materials and other products.

To occupy a niche among enterprises engaged in the production of paper, you need to scrupulously study the existing market in advance, the behavior of competitors and evaluate the approximate profitability of such production. It will be useful to think about where to market your products.

Product range

Modern production technologies and a variety of raw materials make it possible to produce the following types of paper:

  • Newspaper. This type of paper is used for printing on high speed equipment. The material absorbs paint well and is inexpensive to manufacture.
  • Offset. Such paper is widely used in printing houses: for printing books, notebooks and other office products. The main advantage of the material is its resistance to moisture.
  • Coated. Highest quality paper with increased whiteness and smoothness. It is used to print expensive illustrated catalogs and publications.
  • Packaging. It is characterized by increased durability, does not get wet. Such paper is made from wood and does not have special requirements for color and smoothness.
  • Monetary. Differs in high quality and wear resistance, it is used for printing banknotes.
  • Cardboard. This is heavy paper.

Depending on the method of application, the paper is distinguished:

Raw materials for production

For the production of paper, plant materials with elongated fibers are used, which, when mixed with water, form a homogeneous and plastic semi-finished product. It is obtained from:

  • wood, a similar substance is called cellulose;
  • hemp and rice, the final product is very white;
  • straw and reed, the products are different strength and density;
  • secondary raw materials (waste paper);
  • woolen, asbestos and other fibers for special purpose paper.

Most often, large papermaking enterprises use chemical cellulose, wood chips, and waste paper as raw materials.

The following tree species are used for the manufacture of paper products:

  • Softwoods are suitable for making packaging materials (pine, cedar);
  • Hardwood paper is smoother, but not strong (maple, oak); <
  • A strong and elastic material is made from Canadian spruce;
  • Chestnut, birch and so on.

The goal of the project is to create a manufacturing and commercial enterprise; production - children's play furniture made of cardboard. Taking into account the demographic growth in the country, the increase in the number of children in recent years, this project seems appropriate for implementation. The price segment is low, which is also a serious advantage against the background of the difficult economic situation in the country. Location - Belgorod.

The business plan is drawn up on the basis of a detailed analysis of the market situation, production technology, competitive environment and other data. The main performance indicators of the project are shown in Table. 1.

Since the project's products are a combination of home furniture and educational toys for children 5-8 years old, several related markets should be considered: children's toys market, children's furniture market, cardboard furniture market. In general, they are all part of the market for children's goods, the state of which in an enlarged manner shows the state of each of its components.

Experts note some qualitative changes in the children's goods market amid the economic crisis. The drop in demand affected only the premium segment, while the middle and economy segments grew by 7% and 20%, respectively, in 2021 (for some product groups the economy segment grew by more than 50%). On average, in monetary terms, the market is expected to grow by 5-7% in 2021, however, according to experts, this growth is caused by rising prices. In physical terms, there is a drop in volumes by about 5% compared to the previous year.

In addition to the shift in demand towards the low price segment, there is also a tendency towards an increase in demand for development goods. Manufacturers are starting to make products that are more durable and less expensive. The most stable demand is demonstrated by goods for newborns of daily demand.

Drivers of growth in the production of furniture for children is the emergence of a larger number of children (more than 24 million people, including 8 million people aged 5-9 years), in particular, thanks to programs of state support for young families, as well as successful import substitution in this market segment thanks to the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade within the framework of the “Industry of Children's Products” subprogram.
