History of Mini Golf for All
The idea of creating a mini-golf club belongs to Nizhny Novgorod students Philip Mazurov and Ksenia Zhirkova. In the summer of 2021, the guys developed a business plan, rented a space in a popular shopping and entertainment complex in the center of Dzerzhinsk, purchased equipment via the Internet and organized an advertising campaign.
Initial investments - 200,000 rubles.
Self-sufficiency - 3 months.
Now, according to Philip, there is a payback period for equipment and advertising.
What is the secret of success?
- Democratic. Even in the regional center there is only one mini-golf course - in a closed club, it is not intended for everyone. Philip and Ksenia made mini-golf affordable, giving lessons to those who wish at a price of 150 rubles per hour
- In the absence of hired employees: entrepreneurs are still doing their own thing
- The mini-golf club is well located: its regular visitors are families with children, local entrepreneurs, fans of this sport of different ages
- Health benefits: mini golf develops coordination of movements, dexterity, eyes, accuracy, ability to control your body.
- In easy promotion: The mini-golf club quickly became popular with word of mouth, flyer distribution and stationary advertisements in the mall.
In the near future, there is a city mini-golf tournament.
Wealth, fame and fortune do not come immediately. But for those who are willing to learn, persist, and try again and again, great success is the only endpoint.
Here are the stories of three young entrepreneurs who built multimillion-dollar businesses in Russia from scratch. Few believed in them, nevertheless they managed to achieve success and become an example for those who are just starting their own business.
History How to get into the Forbes rating in one of the most intellectual spheres in years
29 years old. Started his business at 17
Graduate of the Moscow State Technical University Bauman, Department of Information Security, Faculty of Informatics
30 Under 30 is the rating of the most promising entrepreneurs in the world under 30 according to Forbes magazine. Russian businessman Ilya Sachkov, CEO of the detective cyber agency Group-IB, achieved one of his goals and got on this list in 2021 at the age of 29. The value of the share of the company owned by Sachkov at the end of 2021 was estimated at about $ 12 million.
Group-IB is an anti-hacker company. Its mission is to prevent and investigate cybercrime. In fact, these are any high-tech crimes that are committed through computer systems: major thefts, cyber terrorism, unfair competition, drug trafficking, weapons, and even murder. When several million rubles are stolen from a large bank's account, Group-IB is in charge of this case. When competitors arrange a DDoS attack on the site of a leading company so that it cannot accept orders, Group-IB is in charge of this business.
Sachkov is an intellectual entrepreneur. However, he himself does not consider himself smart. In his opinion, he is only quick-witted, unlike, for example, his dad, a physicist or mom, who works as an analyst at a bank. It is pleasantly surprising that Ilya always weighs his every word and, even during an interview, is in no hurry to give a quick answer to a question that seems essential to him. “I need to think,” he tells the journalist, taking a minute or two to think.
Sachkov started working in the 9th grade, and started creating his own business in 2021 at the age of 17. But Ilya's success has nothing to do with stories about how favorites of fortune without work experience and education, barely leaving school, become the owners of a fortune. The factors that determined his success are serious professional training, specialized higher education, great interest in the chosen field, gigabytes of books and many, many, many repetitions. Here is what the entrepreneur himself says about his success: "According to the theory of probability, if, after going through a certain number of repetitions, you did not give up, sooner or later you will come to what you were striving for." An inspiring mathematical approach!
Sachkov got the idea for the business after reading the book. As a freshman student, Ilya was admitted to the hospital, and friends brought him a book on cybercrime, written by former FBI officers. The topic interested the future businessman, and he decided to take up cyber forensics. The starting capital of the future Group-IB amounted to 150 thousand rubles - Ilya borrowed them from his older brother.

Inc. chose the most useful books for entrepreneurs out of those that were published in Russian in 2021. Among them - a guide to stoicism, the most detailed and deepest work on the study of sleep, a book by the founder of Netflix and a study of the manifestations of gender imbalance in the surrounding reality. At the end of the list are the books we look forward to most in 2021.
Because this is possibly the main book of the year. There is no direct advice or conclusions for business, but Pinker as a whole talks about how the world works, how democracy and capitalism are changing it, and how it is changing before our very eyes.
What it is about: Linguist, neuropsychologist, favorite author of Bill Gates and popularizer of science Stephen Pinker wrote the most complete study of the phenomena of humanism and violence in the history of mankind. With examples, tables and figures, based on big data, he proves over 900 pages that humankind is slowly but steadily moving towards becoming better. Despite all the horrors that surround us, there is an upward trend, and horror seems so precisely because the bar of expectations has risen so much.
It is written in a very captivating manner, in exceptionally lively and witty language, and in addition to its scientific and cognitive value, the book has a therapeutic effect, which by the end of the 900th page is especially pronounced. At the same time, if you do not feel able to overcome such a large-scale work, this is the case when you can read not everything, not in a row, any fragments and from any place, there will still be benefit.
Quote: “Only in the second half of the 17th century. Europeans have let go of the desire to kill people who incorrectly believe in the supernatural. The Peace of Westphalia, which ended the Thirty Years' War in 1648, approved the principle that each ruler had the right to decide whether his state would be Catholic or Protestant, and the religious minority was left in relative peace ... And although the branches of Christianity, until recently, periodically renewed strife (Protestants and Catholics in Northern Ireland, Catholics and Orthodox in the Balkans), today their disputes concern ethnic and political rather than theological issues ...
What made the Europeans decide that they can give their deviant compatriots the right to risk and go to hell, drawing others there with their bad example? They may have been exhausted by the religious wars, but it is unclear why this took 30 years, rather than 20 or 10. It seems that people have begun to value human life more. Mainly due to changes in the emotional sphere - the developed habit of empathizing with the pain and joys of others. In addition, there have been intellectual and moral changes: a shift from recognizing the value of the soul to recognizing the value of life. "
Because it reveals the secret of today's most intriguing business success - like a small DVD distribution company that, on the brink of failure, tried but failed to sell itself to market giant Blockbuster and eventually became the leader of a new a market that Blockbuster could not fit into.
What it is about: About the culture of Netflix, which is distinguished, on the one hand, by complete freedom and a high level of responsibility of each employee, and on the other - by a high set bar. The co-founder of the company, Richard Hastings, writes that in his company there is no place for "diligent middle peasants", but only rock stars are needed. Perhaps this scheme will not suit everyone, but reading exactly how this works in Netflix is interesting anyway.
Some businessmen fundamentally do not read business publications, preferring fiction, psychological or classical literature. They explain their choice by the fact that books cannot acquire the skills necessary for a business owner, in addition, business is very dynamic in nature, so the concepts set out by the authors of books often become outdated before they get from the draft to the reader. Therefore, it is much more rewarding to spend time researching a specific successful case.
Anyway, real business success stories really help increase motivation, find inspiration, and build self-confidence. This is probably why stories of brilliant business success are studied not only by beginners, but also by experienced business owners.
Why study other people's business success stories
Modern society no longer supports the stereotype that only a person born into the family of a millionaire can earn a billion. The history of the twentieth century is replete with examples of successful people who had no support, no start-up capital, or even a higher education. Success stories from scratch in business or any other area not only inspire newcomers, but can bring very specific, concrete benefits.
- Good ideas to take note of. Why reinvent the wheel and fill your own bumps when you can use already proven development methods? Someone's successful case may prompt you to solve a problem or warn you against making a significant mistake.
- Form a successful person's mindset. Studying the biography of a major businessman, a description of his victories and, importantly, failures allows us to adopt the basic principles of achieving success. As a rule, no successful case can be repeated one-on-one, but if you have comprehended the philosophy of the person who created it, then you can easily adapt a good idea to the requirements of your business plan.
- Increase self-confidence. Interviews with successful businessmen are usually presented beautifully and smoothly, so that one gets the impression that these people are naturally endowed with a talent for avoiding mistakes and finding promising methods of development. But full-fledged stories of the formation of a business show how much hard work, dedication, and error correction is hidden behind the perceived ease of enterprise management.
Who can succeed
Studying the biographies of great personalities, you will see that many of them were poor, some of the celebrities started their careers with boring and difficult professions, and others set foot on the path to the heights of fame and recognition at a fairly mature age.
The portrait of a successful entrepreneur does not consist of material or social advantages, although, of course, their presence at the start will not hurt. However, the moral qualities of a person are of decisive importance: the habit of self-discipline; willingness to systematically overcome difficulties; the ability not to give up, but to continue to work, taking into account the experience of mistakes; persistence in moving towards a goal.
For many celebrities, you can see that blind chance helped them become famous. Such stories are loved by the press, they are remembered, they cause a response from the audience.
For example, Harrison Ford was in the right place at the right time: when he was thirty years old, he came to the house of George Lucas to ... collect a wardrobe. However, it is unlikely that the producer would have offered the role to an obscure carpenter if he had not clung to for years the casual and low-paid roles that allowed him to gain experience in front of the camera.
Most of the stories of successful entrepreneurs are based on persistence and building a clear strategy. A happy occasion falls only to those who themselves are energetically looking for a meeting with this case, by their active actions preparing the ground for making qualitative changes in life.
The path to success is usually difficult and thorny. Therefore, those who passed it have a lot to learn.
